Right Side Up?

Sailboat Moored off Guemis Island

Sailboat Moored off Guemis Island

So looking at this sailboat, is the boat right side up or upside down? What does that mean anyway? Isn’t it all perspective? Did you ever notice that upside is a word while rightside isn’t? Why isn’t it upside up? or downside down? And why is it that upside down and downside up can mean the same thing? Who says the upside is the right side? It’s that perspective thing again.

I suppose the answer to the first question in this case is both. Ok – it’s a boat floating on top of the water with its reflection visible in the water. The reflection is interesting because it looks ancient compared to the boat. The reflection is tattered and worn while the boat is neat as a pin. Do you perceive your reflection from others that way? Do you perceive yourself less favorably than others perceive you? It’s that perspective thing again.

Crab Hides Out in the Open

Crab Hides Out in the Open

Did you ever just want to hang out in a public place and not be noticed? Just observe what’s happening around you without the burden of having to come up with quippy remarks? Well, that’s really okay – sometimes we want to be amongst the crowd without necessarily identifying with it or interacting with it. I suppose journalists see the world that way at times. As professionals they report the news without bias. At least that’s what they’re supposed to do.
